  • Sheikh Shata congratulates the Islamic community in the U.S. and the Islamic nation as a whole on the occasion of the begining of the holy month of Ramadan, asking Allah (swt) to accept our deeds and help us in it.

  • By the will of Allah (swt), Sheikh Reda Shata starts a new lecture series during the month of Ramadan entitled "Love according to the Quran and the Sunna", daily after fajr prayers in Masjid al-Aman.

  • By the will of Allah, the evening lecture on Saturday 10 April 2010 will be entitled "Causes for support or lack of support by Allah".

  • The jurisprudence course on Shaukani's book "ad-Durar al-Bahiyya" continues in Friday lectures at 8:00 p.m.

  • By the grace of Allah (swt), Sheikh Reda Shata starts a new lecture series entitled "Forms of answered supplication by the Beloved Prophet peace be upon him", after ishaa prayers at 8 p.m. every Friday. The series will be initiated on Friday 19 February 2010 on the occasion of the Birthday of the Prophet.

  • Sheikh Shata apologizes for cancelling Saturday's weekly lecture on 2 January 2010 since he will be at the Islamic Center of Passaic County, NJ.

  • With much sorrow, Sheikh Shata announces the passing away of New Jersey Ophtalmologist, Dr. Ahmad Salem, of Zinzibar, who died on Sunday afternoon 8 Nov. 2009 at Jersey Shore Hospital. Janazah prayers will be held at Masjid Al-Aman on Monday 9 Nov. at 12 noon. Dr. Salem - may Allah have mercy on him - was one of the knowledgable and pious Islamic personalities in the United States.

  • By Allah's grace, Sheikh Shata performs the hajj this year. He will leave New Jersey on Thursday 12 Nov. and return on 1 Dec. 2009. Therefore, the evening lecture will be cancelled on Sat. 7 Nov. 2009.

  • Good news for pilgrims: Sheikh Reda Shata hosts a comprehensive seminar on Hajj and its rituals on Saturday 31 October 2009 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The program of the seminar will, in sha'a Allah, include a film on the rituals of the Hajj, a lecture, health tips, and a lecture by the Council on American Islamic Relations on the legal rights of travelers in the U.S.

  • Sheikh Shata will - God willing - deliver the Friday sermon at the Islamic Center in Passaic County, NJ, on 30 October 2009, whereas the evening lectures on Friday and Saturday resume at Masjid Al-Aman.

  • Sheikh Shata regrets to cancel the Saturday lecture on 24 October 2009 due to health issues.

  • By the grace of Allah, a new lecture series entitled "How to be in the shade of Allah when there is no shade but His" will begin on Friday 9 October 2009 after ishaa prayers.

  • On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, which begins on Saturday 22 August 2009 in the United States, Saudi Arabia and most Islamic countries, Sheikh Shata congratulates the Islamic community in the U.S. and all Muslims, asking Allah (swt) to accept our deeds in it and make it a month of blessing and bounty for the Muslim Ummah.

  • By the will of Allah, Sheikh Shata will participate in the innauguration of the Islamic Understanding Center in Panama City, Florida during the period from 27 to 29 August 2009.

  • Sheikh Shata will deliver a lecture on welcoming the month of Ramadan on Saturday 15 August 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the MAS Youth Center in Brooklyn, by the will of Allah.

  • By the will of Allah, the jurisprudence course on Shaukani's book "ad-Durar al-Bahiyya" will be resumed in Friday lectures after Ishaa prayers. The Sheikh will begin the explanation of the chapter on prayer on Friday 3 April 2009.

  • The lecture on Saturday 17 January 2009 will be entitled "The Islamic Rules of Happy Marriage" in sha'a Allah . It is part of the lecture series entitled "How to preserve your family and be happily married".

  • Please take note that next Saturday's lecture on 10 January 2009 will be cancelled since Sheikh Shata will be in Washington, DC.

  • The lecture on Friday 9 January 2009 will be entitled "How to open the doors of bounty" in sha'a Allah .

  • Sheikh Shata is pleased to announce that - with Allah's grace - he will be performing pilgrimage to Makkah this year. Therefore, he regrets not being able to deliver Friday and Saturday lectures beginning on 28 November until he returns from Hajj on 16 December 2008 in sha'a Allah .

  • The lecture on Friday 21 November 2008 will be entitled "How to make our meetings for the sake of Allah" and will be delivered right after Isha' prayers (at 8 pm) in sha'a Allah .

  • Sheikh Shata would like to remind all that he will - God willing - deliver the Friday sermon at Masjid Dar ad-Da'wa in Astoria, Queens, NY on the first Friday of every month, and at the Islamic Center in the Bronx, NY on the third Friday of every month.

  • Begining on Saturday 18 October 2008, Sheikh Reda Shata starts a new spiritual, educational, social lecture series entitled "How to preserve your family and be happily married", to be delivered at 8 p.m. every Saturday. Given the crucial importance of this subject for every Muslim family, all brothers and sisters are invited to attend and encourage others to attend and benefit from these lectures.

  • According to the criteria adopted by the Fiqh Council of North America, and European Council for Fatwa and Research, the first day of Ramadhan 1429 is confirmed to fall on Monday 1 September 2008. On this opportunity, Sheikh Shata congratulates the Islamic Community and prays to Allah (swt) that this month will bring good and blessings to them and to the Islamic Ummah as a whole.

  • Sheikh Reda Shata will participate in a conference entitled Reporting Global Conflict: Uncovering the Link between Religion and Human Rights organized by the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on 9 and 10 May 2008, where the Sheikh will be a panelist in the session entitled "Global Tensions, Local Reactions: Building community networks to prevent or respond to hate crimes" in which he will discuss the impact of the "war on terror" on Muslims in New York and New Jersey.

  • Sheikh Shata apologizes for not being able to deliver the evening lectures on Friday and Saturday 11 and 12 April 2008 due to health issues.

  • Since Sheikh Shata will be at Masjid Noor al-Islam on Staten Island, NY, on the evening of Friday 4 April 2008, there will be no lecture before the Ishaa Prayer at Masjid Al-Aman. Tomorrow's evening lecture will be held as scheduled in sha'a Allah.

  • Sheikh Shata will deliver a lecture entitled "How to be knowledgeable of Allah (swt)" at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday 5 April 2008.

  • Sheikh Shata will not be at Masjid Al-Aman the evening of Friday 7 March 2008, and therefore he apologizes for cancelling the lecture after the Ishaa Prayer. Tomorrow's evening lecture will be held as scheduled in sha'a Allah.

During Ramadhan, Sheikh Shata will deliver a lecture on rememberance in the Book and Sunnah daily after fajr prayers.

  • Alhamdulillah! Allah has blessed Sheikh Shata with a new baby girl, Sahla. Therefore, the jurisprudence lecture scheduled for Saturday, 8 September 2007 is cancelled.

  • Sheikh Shata takes part in a panel discussion on immigrant life, religion and assimilation in the West to be held at St. Ann's Warehouse in the Dumbo section of Brooklyn on 7 October 2007 at 7:00 p.m. following the performance of two plays by the Dutch director Adelheid Roosen: one about Muslim men in Holland and the other about Muslim women.

  • The jurisprudence course on Shaukani's book "ad-Durar al-Bahiyya" (chapter on fasting) is to be resumed on Saturdays after Maghreb prayers starting 25 August 2007.

  • The results of the examination on the first jurisprudence course (purification) are now available.

  • Sheikh Shata delivers the Friday sermon on 6 July in Masjid Dar Ad-Da'ua in Astoria, Queens, NY.

  • Sheikh Shata teaches a new course in jurisprudance after Maghreb prayers on Wednesdays beginning in May. The course will explain Shaukani's book "ad-Durar al-Bahiyya".

  • Sheikh Shata participates in a conference entitled "Muslim Youth and Women in the West: Source of Concern or Source of Hope?" to be organized by an NYU program (Dialogues: Islamic World-U.S.-The West) in Salzburg, Austria from 15 to 17 May 2007.

  • Sheikh Shata has congratulated Andrea Elliott on winning the Pulitzer Prize on 16 April 2007. Ms. Elliott, 34, who, inter alia, covers Islam in America as a metropolitan reporter for The New York Times, was awarded the Feature Writing prize "for her intimate, richly textured portrait of an immigrant imam striving to find his way and serve his faithful in America".

  • Sheikh Shata delivers the Friday sermon on April 6 in Masjid Dar Ad-Da'ua in Astoria, Queens, NY, on April 20 in the Islamic Center in Allentown, PA, and on April 27 in Panama City, FL.

  • Sheikh Reda Shata continues to give lectures on the Prophet's (pbuh) Sira in Masjid Al-Aman after the Maghrib and Isha' prayers on Sat. and Sun.

  • Sheikh Shata starts a series of lectures entitled "Hasad, Sihr, and Jinn: Facts and Myths" in Masjid Al-Aman on Sat. March 3, 2007 after the Isha' prayer (8:00 p.m.).

  • Sheikh Reda Shata gives lectures on the Characteristics of the Muslim Life daily after the Isha' prayer, and lessons in Aqeedah from the Holy Qur'an daily after the Fajr prayer.

  • The New York Times runs a second article on Sheikh Reda Shata on Sunday January 27, 2007.

  • After returning from Hajj, Sheikh Shata will in sha'Allah lecture at the Islamic Center of Passaic County on Friday 25 November at 7 p.m. On Saturday 26 November at 6 p.m. there will be a special event at Masjid al-Aman to celebrate the birth of the Prophet (pbuh). Weekly Saturday lectures resume the following Saturday at 8:00 p.m.

  • Sheikh Shata will perform Hajj this year in sha' Allah. He is scheduled to leave on 22 October and return on 18 November 2011.

  • Sheikh Shata invites all those planning to perform pilgrimage this year to a preparatory seminar on ritual and health issues on Saturday 15 October 2011 at 8:00 p.m. The seminar will include an educational film on Hajj rituals, and dinner will be served.

  • The Associated Press has revealed in an article published on 5 October 2011 that the New York Police Department's intelligence squad spied on NYC imams and mosques, including Sheikh Reda Shata when he was the imam of masjid Musab bin Omair in Brooklyn. In a reaction to those reports, Sheikh Shata issued a press statement, in which he expressed shock and dismay that he had been targeted in prejudiced way, reiterated his repeated condemnation of terrorism, incitement and intolerance, as well as condemned Islamophobia and called for an end to all forms of racial and religious profiling and intolerance against Muslims in the United States.

  • The evening lecture by Sheikh Shata on Saturday 2 April 2011 will be at the Islamic Enlightenment Center in Plainfield, NJ. The lecture will be at 8 p.m. and will be entitled "Realization of faith".

    Within the framework of his support of the popular Egyptian Revolution, Sheikh Shata participates in a fundraiser organized by the Egyptian American Medical Foundation, the Arab American Medical Association and the Alliance of Egyptian Americans to support the injured during the Revolution, to be held on Sunday 13 March 2011 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Marriott Hotel at Glenpointe in Teaneck, NJ.

  • Sheikh Shata participates in an event organized by the women of the Muslim community in New York in celebration of the success of the popular revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt, to be held on Wednesday 16 March 2011 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Widdi Hall in Brooklyn. There, he will deliver a lecture from 1:00-2:00 p.m.

  • Since Sheikh Shata will participate in the protest to be organized in support of the Libyan people's uprising against the oppressive ruling regime, in Times Square in New York City, the evening lecture will be canceled. It is worth mentioning that the protest will start at 2:00 p.m. and that buses will depart from Al-Aman Mosque at 1:00 p.m. to transport the brothers and sisters who wish to participate.

  • All brothers and sisters are invited to Masjid Al-Aman to celebrate the Birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) on Friday 18 February 2011 after the Ishaa prayers (which has been postponed from Friday 11 February).

  • Sheikh Shata will be at the Islamic Center of Passaic County in Paterson for the evening lecture on Saturday 12 February 2011 in sha' Allah.

  • Due to the inclement weather conditions, Sheikh Shata regrets the cancellation of the evening lecture on Saturday 29 January 2011. Saturday lectures will resume next week in sha' Allah.

  • In response to the New Year Eve terrorist bombing of the Saints Church in Alexandria, Egypt, Sheikh Shata addresses a message to the musilms and christians of the world in his Friday sermon on 7 January 2011.
